Data And Predictions From State Street

Having these sorts of numbers close by really comes in handy.

A while back I wrote an article about Taiwan and it took about ten minutes to find the Central Bank Rate.

As you research various countries, getting a macro sense of what is going on, using this type of data, is crucial.

Cool data, but what kind of predictive validity? I used to get the Economist, early 90's. Some awful predictions about inflation per country. Can you offer an example of how you are using this data? Valid or not, perception is a factor.

Ot: Ever hear of The Thermostat Fund by Accorn/Columbia? Great concept. When equities are strong, they buy bonds, and when weak, buy back equities. Not all or none process. Problem is that the fund has had significant draw downs. I think they have the wrong vehicles to implement their trading concept.

Along these lines, if your retiree client with a mdoerate aggressive profile had already accomplished ytd return that exceeded the goal, let's say goal of 7percent with return of 8.5, would you rebalance portfolio with much heavier weighting of fixed income and enjoy collecting interest until valuations were more compelling and there was less risk in the mkt? (And how we're all waiting for a travel log, I'm betting that it's going to be hard to allocate time to the internet cafe. Would be for me)
