FYI, Chile decided some years ago to diversity its exports away from the US. Now, I understand their exports are approx. 1/3 to Europe and 1/3 to Asia ..
Some time back I saw one site in the UK which had calculated that Chile, South Africa, and Australia (and some others) had remarkably low correlations with the world's returns.
While I have not developed any particular approach to using low-correlated countries as of this point, obviously the diversification possibilities are intriguing.
